In 1995 Ars Ad Astra: The 1st Art Exhibition in Earth Orbit was organized by Arthur Woods and Marco C. Bernasconi of the OURS Foundation in cooperation with the European Space Agency during their EUROMIR 95 mission. Twenty original artworks and a laptop computer with eighty-one digitized art works accompanied German cosmonaut Thomas Reiter on his 6 month mission.
The artists with selected works were: Alessandro Bartolozzi, Italy; Werner Beyeler, Peter Binz, Marcy Burt Butz, Andrea Thüler, Switzerland; Michael Böhme, Karl Draeger, Peter Eickmeyer, Rudolf Hanke, Rudolf Halaczinsky, Germany; Michael Carroll, Elizabeth Smith, Ruth Trapane, Claudine Varesi, Amy Zofko, Mark Maxwell, USA; Chris Couvee, Netherlands; Marilynn Flynn, United Arab Emirates; Sarah Kernaghan, Ireland; Edward Mendelsohn, Great Britain.

The work by Elizabeth Carroll Smith was selected by the cosmonaut crew as their favorite and remained on Mir while the other 19 artworks were returned to Earth.
