Les Baxter «Space Escapade» 1958.

Les Baxter is the leading figure in the history of exotica. Wherever exotica went, Les Baxter was there, often leading the way. His work for Capitol Records in the 1950s introduced most of the major movements in exotica. His 1950 album, Music Out of the Moon, featured the theremin and was probably the best-selling theremin album of all time, and also founded the 'space' school of exotica.

Léon Theremin.

The theremin is one of the earliest fully electronic musical instruments. Invented in 1919 by Russian Léon Theremin, the theremin is unusual in that it requires no physical contact in order to produce music and was, in fact, the first musical instrument designed to be played without being touched. The instrument consists of an array of circuitry including two antennas around which the user moves his or her hands to play.
