Mona Lisa goes Space, Venice Biannual, 2005.

Russian-born artist George Pusenkoff makes his contribution to the 51st edition of the Venice Biennale with a 20-foot aluminium tower entitled "Mona Lisa Goes Space", which symbolises the union of art and technology.
The tower is part of an ongoing conceptual project undertaken by the artist in 1998 with Mona Lisa Goes Russia. Since then, Pusenkoff has continued his fascination with Leonardo's lady by producing various yellow-and-black versions, which he took on a series of journeys and photographed in unusual locations. In April 2005, he even created a digitalised version measuring 70cm x 70cm to accompany Italian astronaut Roberto Vittori on his flight to the International Space Station. For the Biennale, he has also produced three oversized aluminium panels featuring a yellow Single Mona Lisa 1:1, installed at various points throughout the city of Venice.
