The dancers are in the venue early, working on accumulating ideas for the two encore songs that currently serve as our finale. At present they aren’t dancing in those songs, and it seems a shame for them to essentially drop out of the show at that point — so that will change after our Thanksgiving break. Some of their ideas are based on the movements I’ve been doing during those songs, but both their movements and mine will probably get expanded, tweaked and organized during some dance rehearsa

"The act of putting brush to canvas is an act of lyrical intuition, and in that act, in that instant, the personality and indeed the spirituality of the artist is revealed." Francis Bacon quoted in Herbert Read 'Art Now', 1933. The work of

Del 630: Vidare i Axessdebatten

Sat, 2008-10-25 20:23

The Best Ship is Friendship--alchemy at Little Berlin

[This is the third in several ultra-brief posts I hope to get up this week about work I've seen recently that have given me tremendous pleasure or piqued my interest in some way. I'm sort of overwhelmed with outside-the-blog life, but I really wanted to tell you about this stuff.--libby]Zachar Vaks, ExploceanWho couldn't love an exhibit named The Best Ship is Friendship" It's the two-man exhibit of work by Zachar Vaks (3axap Bakc) and David Bratton at Little Berlin, until the 24th? Chris Clark's mournful icons at Proximity

Mon, 2008-10-20 15:37
Chris Clark, Willow Street, from his show at Proximity Gallery.Chris Clark's show of paintings and works on paper at the new boutique/gallery Proximity in Fishtown almost sold out at the opening. The heavily-layered and lovingly-worked paintings on wood and paper with eco and political (anti-war) themes and dark, mysterious backgrounds are great to look at.  And the works are no-nonsense priced to move ($200-400 range).   Who bought?  People from the neighborhood bought the work, said Clark and

Polkographie

Fri, 2008-10-10 11:15

Genauer: Moderne Kunst. Und Louisiana he

The Order of Things is an exhibition on the uses of archival images, image archives and image banks (and various other manifestations of a classificatory, encyclopaedic impulse) in contemporary art.
